Archbishop Tenison's
As a Voluntary Aided School, Archbishop Tenison’s School has to have a fund to supplement the funding it receives from the Government through the local authority. This fund enables Governors to carry out a number of tasks essential to school life.
Diocesan School Maintenance Fund
The Borough of Croydon does not maintain our buildings. The Governors have to ensure that the buildings remain fit for their educational purpose. To do this, each year we pay into a maintenance plan arranged by Southwark Diocese for every child/student registered at the school. We also have a Service Agreement with the Diocese for insurance cover and other professional services.
Development Trust
For major projects, the Governors are usually required to pay 10% of the capital cost of building construction. This “top-up” funding is often the key to obtaining much larger grants for capital projects, so it is important that such money is available when needed.
School Fund
School Fund helps with extra-curricular activities. It underwrites the costs of visits, and the purchase of prizes and awards for presentation evenings. It gives a budget to the School Council so that pupils learn democratic decision making and how to use money wisely.
All together a total of £120 per year is suggested for each pupil, which works out at just £10 per month. Of course, the payment is voluntary, but it is only through such support by parents and carers in the past, that Tenison’s exists in its present form today. The school depends on you making the suggested contribution; although I do appreciate that individual circumstances may mean that some parents/carers can only manage a smaller contribution.
The payment can be made in a single instalment or by monthly or annual standing order. If you a UK tax payer and sign a Gift Aid Form, your payment is worth 28% more to the school at no extra cost to you. If you have more than one child in the school, you are asked to make a similar payment for each one. A gift Aid form can be found here.
A contribution by Banker’s Order can last for the time your daughter or son is at the school. A Banker’s Order Form can be found here.
Please contribute as generously as you are able by completing the forms and returning them to the School an envelope which is addressed to: The Hon Treasurer, The Development Trust, Archbishop Tenison’s School, Selborne Road, Croydon CR0 5JQ.
