It is with sadness that we inform you that our fellow and oldest known Croydon Tenisonian, Stanley Kirby passed away peacefully on Thursday 30th April at the age of 101.
Stanley celebrated his milestone 100th birthday in July 2018, receiving the prestigious birthday card from Her Majesty The Queen.
We were reunited with Stanley during our Tercentenary year celebrations in 2014, when he played a pivotal role attending and participating at our events to mark 300 years of Archbishop Tenison’s School.
He particularly impressed and captivated our pupils when he attended our exhibition at Croydon’s Fairfield Halls by sharing the fond memories of his time at school. Stanley attended Tenison’s from 1929 - 1934 and remembered vividly the day the R101 Jet flew over the school at 10.30am on 5 October 1930.
We were honoured to have got to know Stanley and his family over the past seven years and all at Archbishop Tenison’s send them our deepest condolences and prayers during this sad time.
