Vision 312 Launch Event
Southwark Cathedral was the perfect setting for the launch of Vision 312, Archbishop Tenison’s fundraising campaign.
On May 21st, approximately 250 invited guests, former and current members of staff, School Governors, pupils and students and members of the school’s wider community gathered at Southwark Cathedral for a very special service to mark the school’s 312th year history and to share its educational vision for pupils and students now and in the future.
Over the past 5 years, there has been a significant increase in pupil numbers. In September 2025 Archbishop Tenison’s School will have over 800 pupils for the first time in its history. Vision 312 is a bold initiative to improve the facilities and learning resources to match the increase in numbers and offer more than just the curriculum.
The service was led by the Bishop of Croydon, The Right Reverend Dr Rosemarie Mallett and Reverend Les Isaac, OBE and founder of Street Pastors who offered encouragement and a challenge to create a legacy beyond ourselves. The school’s Year 7 choir and the Gospel Choir sang with melodic purpose and conviction.
The congregation heard from former pupils and students who reflected on their individual experiences during their time at the school and the inspiration, guidance and support the school had provided them with along their personal journeys. Gary Carr, renowned actor and former pupil reflected on his time at Tenison’s and spoke of how the school had helped him nurture his interest in Drama through the curriculum.
An exhibition lined the Cathedral’s north and south transepts, providing a visual display of each subject’s curriculum vision and aspirations for the current and future generations educational journey through the school.

The Development Trust
The Archbishop Tenison’s School Development Trust (Charity Commission reference 282496) exists to ensure that pupils and students are given the best possible environment for their learning and developing in their educational career by meeting required expenditures on building maintenance and capital projects. It also helps cover additional projects to improve the School.
It is The Trust’s vision to provide an environment for your child to allow them to achieve their full potential and thrive.
As a Voluntary Aided school Archbishop Tenison’s relies on The Trust for funding, the principal source of which is donations made by parents and carers who share this vision and have the means to support.
Previous projects funded by the Trust include:
-
New Music room with Apple Mac computers, and fully equipped recording studio
-
New Technology and Art rooms with computers
-
Sports Hall construction and fitting out
-
Digital pianos for Main Hall and Music room
-
Emergency replacement of boilers
-
Conversion of old changing rooms into a new toilet block
These improvements provided an immeasurable benefit to the pupils and students and the Trust’s future projects will continue to provide an environment that fosters outstanding learning and allows them to fulfil their potential.
Please join other parents and carers in contributing to the Development Trust.
The Trust has some required expenditures that we are obligated to pay, namely:
Southwark Diocesan Maintenance Fund, for maintenance of the buildings. This gives rise to a yearly payment of around £25 per pupil.
-
Making up a 10% gap in funding for all building projects, typically requiring the Trust to pay several tens of thousands of pounds per year as we work to improve the School.
The Trust is a separate entity from the School. It has its own Trustees, consisting of past and present parents and Governors of the school, and prepares its own accounts which can be viewed through the Charity Commission website.
