“Our recent Year 12 Geography field trip to Dorset was both educational and enjoyable. We stayed at the Portland Bird Observatory, where we had the unique experience of staying in a lighthouse on the Isle of Portland, even spotting a badger in the garden one evening! Our first day was spent collecting data at Chesil Beach, a 29 km long shingle barrier beach, where we measured sediment size and distribution for our Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). The following day, we gathered human geography data in the main towns of Portland, focusing on aspects like land use and deprivation in the area. On Wednesday, we explored the sand dunes at Studland Bay, investigating their unique formation processes compared to other UK dunes. This trip provided us with valuable hands-on experience and insights, significantly aiding our NEA preparation. We enjoyed this Field trip a lot and would definitely go again.”
